Exhibition Information
What the paintings want Lee Seonghwi Lee Jin-hyung has a habit of collecting images produced by various visual media and looking at them repeatedly. The habit of constantly looking into images led Lee Jin-hyung to grasp the meaning, context, and personality of the images at first collection, but over time, other parts began to catch his eye, and he encountered the moment when the images first faded. This point is described as being somewhere between the target and the target, or somewhere between static and noise, where the images placed are used as materials for the work, and the artist wants to partially capture the texture and structural contours of the image's atmosphere. How far is his painting away from the original image? The artist wants his painting to break away from the original context of the image and look like an independent object, ironically trying to capture the fading point more clearly and position the work exactly there.
