Exhibition Information
Kim Eunhye's Note In an era of digital information overload, where there are more indirect experiences than diameter experiences, how can a visual artist react within the network of a flood of voluntary and non-voluntary surveillance systems? As the world is so full of information that it is impossible to handle, I was asked whether I need to participate in the production. Thinking about how to create without creating, create without making, and intervene without intervening, I chose to give a new context. Digital media is my main method and subject. I work on speaking about language, power, and media through digital media. The work is inspired mainly by YouTube, advertisements, and everyday landscapes that pass by. While working at the company, I noticed the CCTV on the ceiling. In the CCTV on my head 'above,' he looked at me but I couldn't see him. It was an opportunity to think about the concept of power and location and the distinction between private and public areas. So is the Internet landscape, including various social networking sites, which is filled with individuals' voluntary dedication. I wanted to crack them and create a gap to create a system of gay resistance to power. the working is my way of intervening in the world, and I hope it is a challenge to existing ideas that are considered certain. It is also an attempt to perceive myself and the meaning of the events and landscapes around me that make me exist.
