Exhibition Information
The title <Love in the Covid 19 era> is derived from Gabriel García Márquez's novel "Love in the Cholera era". In the novel set in the 19th century, cholera called for a change in the way of love, the customs of the times and the values beyond the dimension of disease spread. The change is also valid for us facing the 'Covid 19 Age' as of 2020. Currently, post-Covid 19 is being prepared in various fields including sociology, psychology and ecology, as well as medical and scientific fields. The field of visual arts is also attempting 'Untact' such as VR and online art galleries, but it is only a change in the form of viewing methods. The language of visual arts lacks works, exhibitions and artistic discourse that directly deal with the Covid-19 era. The exhibition records the times and reflects on the phenomenon through five writers(Kim Ga-ram, Shim Rae-jeong, Yoon Seok-won, In Se-bak and Jeong Ji-hyun). The participating artists are all young writers born in the 1980s and all of them produced new works based on their quickness and keen observation of the rapidly changing times. They presented topics and keywords such as 'Language of the New-Normal Era', 'Virus Visibility', 'Individual Community Observation', 'Fear and infectiousness promoted by the Media' and 'The Urban Landscape and Spatial Change of the Covid-19 era' in their respective genres and media including painting, photography, installation, media, animation and essays. It is going to experiment with online and offline interlocking exhibition form that will become common in the era of Untact. Online A, which is held prior to the offline exhibition, is a platform for Instagram space(@art_covid_19) and the production process is unloaded every day. Breaking away from the concept of a static and complete form of exhibition space, it further narrows the time distance between the audience and the work. Afterwards, 'Online B' will be provided as a follow-up video to YouTube by collecting exhibitions of exhibition sites, curators' exhibition introductions and writers' interviews. The exhibition details can be checked online without visiting the site. Online is no longer an auxiliary device for public relations and archiving. The role distinction between online and offline is on longer meaningless and has the same importance as the exhibition hall scene in complementary relationships. Through this attempt, we would like to redefine the exhibition concept that integrates post-Covid 19 era and online and offline. [Source] PLACEMAK3 homepage
