Yokomizo Miyuki's paintings consist of an accumulation of vertical and horizontal lines. By relying on various kinds of sculptural approaches, Yokomizo's painting process does not aim to depict an image of things. Her aim is first and foremost to treat paintings as three-dimensional objects and apply a direct approach that is commonly used in sculpture making. Rather than a two-dimensional illusionistic space, her paintings acknowledge the materiality of paint and canvas, suggesting they are three-dimensional objects that exist in an actual space.
