Exhibition Information
Gana Art is delighted to announce the presentation of always looking for a new balance, the first solo exhibition in Asia by Berlin-based artist René Wirths (b. 1967). In this exhibition, Wirths passionately explores how we understand information, questioning common ideas and images we see in the media. He takes on the role of a careful observer, capturing the essence of objects and turning his observations into paintings inspired by phenomenological principles. This is not only Wirth's solo exhibition with Gana Art but also in Asia. His approach transcends reliance on preconceptions when evaluating objects. As an observer of the world, the artist faces objects, remembers the impression of what he feels, and sublimates it into work. Unlike photorealism, Wirths’ painting process does not rely on the aid of templates, photographs, or projectors, but purely as a transfer performance from three to two dimensions. As the title of this exhibition, always looking for a new balance, René Wirths aims to newly grasp the essence of objects that are considered fixed through continuous observation of everyday objects. Furthermore, his work questions us to consider how people perceive images in mass media, specifically, a phenomenon of recognizing them as realistic representations and actual objects in today's society. René Wirth opens up a significant discourse on the function and meaning of painting for those who live in a modern society where images are overflowing. (Source = Gana art)
