Exhibition Information
Gana Art is pleased to announce a three-person exhibition TIME with An Zongde (b. 1957), Huh Myoungwook (b. 1966), and Dawn Ng (b. 1982). This exhibition introduces the works that interpret the time of natural phenomena. An places the object on colored paper dyed by himself, exposes it to sunlight for a long time, and then removes the object from the paper to capture the passage of time and existence through the discoloration. Huh who creates his own colors with lacquer and natural dyes, records time by repeating the performative work of combining colors on a medium according to the emotions and moods of the day, which results in the “color of the day.” The matière of the lacquer and fabric is well emphasized in his works; moreover, the color of the lacquer is shown vividly on steel plates, revealing the depth and unique forms of Huh’s works. Singapore-based Dawn Ng understands the essence of time not as something linear that can be calculated in numbers but as something flexible and emotional. And she adds shape and color to the fluid time. In this exhibition, she presents the Into Air series, in which she works with ice sculptures made by freezing acrylic paints, dyes, and inks for three weeks to record the time she pursues. The three artists combine the nature of time with their individual philosophies to discover art in everyday life and make it be felt anew. Gana Art hopes the audience will have a meaningful and special time in life while watching the show. (Source = Gana Art Nineone)
